Syria Banque de Syrie 500 Piastres 1.8.1919 Pick 5s Specimen PMG About Uncirculated 50.Highest denomination of the 1919 series denominated in Piastres. After World War I, France and Britain divided former Ottoman Empire territories and began issuing currency for the newly formed European colonies. At the time, 500 Syrian Piastres was equal to 5 Pounds in Egypt and Palestine / Transjordan. We have not offered this denomination in Specimen format in the past. Very rare in any form and worthy of consideration. Perforated cancellation, previously mounted and minor paper pulls are observed.
