Rhodesia Standard Bank of South Africa 5 Pounds 27.8.1896 Pick S133r Remainder PMG Very Fine 20 Net.
A simply incredible remnant from the earliest days of the colony of Rhodesia. This 5 Pound note was issued via the newly formed Salisbury branch of the Standard Bank of South Africa. It appears that the overprint details were printed locally atop Durban-issued banknotes. This note is a Remainder, however, as there are no serial numbers or signatures. Multiple cancellations are seen on this extremely rare note. Please be aware that this note was previously mounted, with subsequent thinning and repairs. Nonetheless one of the rarest Rhodesian issues and missing from most collections.
