Netherlands State Note 5 Gulden 1.1.1846 Pick A11 PL19a AV15.1 PMG Extremely Fine 40.
An incredible, mid-19th century offering, and the first nationally issued coin note for the Netherlands. The signature of Baron Floris Adriaan van Hall is seen on this note, as he was Finance Minister from 1843-1848, and then again in 1854, and for a third a final time from 1860-1861. All ink, both print and manuscript, remains bold and clear. PMG mentions that this note was previously mounted, which hardly detracts from the overall appearance. Strong and clear embossing is seen on the back. At the time of cataloging, this is the finer of only two examples presently graded by PMG. Fully issued and extremely rare.
