The earliest units of paper money created for the Netherlands Indies are letters of credit issued by the Dutch East India Company. This first generation example was issued via Fort Victoria, in Amboina, Maluku. All printed and written details are remarkably bold and clear. Thinning, stains, and small holes are mentioned for accuracy, but the eye appeal is outstanding. Extremely rare and part of a famed collection of the rarest Dutch Colonial notes offered in this auction.
