Japan Greater Japan Imperial National Bank, Yokohama #2 2 Yen ND (1873) Pick 11 JNDA 11-13 PMG Very Fine 25.
An eye appealing Yokohama Branch #2 example from the first National Bank issue which were printed by the Continental Banknote Company in New York. The face of this 2 yen features two vignettes of the 14th century warriors Kojima no Takanori and Nitta no Yoshisada and the back features a central vignette of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo flanked by the 1870 2 yen gold coin. A highly desirable example in this grade, as no examples above a Very Fine 30 are registered in the PMG Population Report. Comments of splits and rust are annotated on the holder.
