A simply incredible offering, a first for Heritage Auctions and the first to cross a major auction block. At the time of cataloging, only three examples of this denomination have been graded in the PMG Population Report. Only 40,000 notes were printed with the 1920 date, and according to the authoritative catalog, a mere 170 are extant. A problem-free, mid circulation grade is seen here, and all details are clearly visible. Classic JEZ characteristics are present on both sides. This exact banknote is the plate note for the type in The Standard Catalog of World Paper Money, General Issues, 15th Edition. Very rare and missing from nearly all relevant collections.
