Description

Rarest Variety of King George V $1 of 1923

Canada Dominion of Canada $1 2.7.1923 DC-25iT Test Note PMG Extremely Fine 40.
Very rare "Test Note" variety of the Bronze seal $1 of 1923. Serial numbers within the range of 1,000,001 and 1,078,500 are known to have been printed on Howard Smith test paper and extant examples are seldom seen today. Until this time, Crane Paper of Massachusetts was used on all Dominion notes. The "testing" of Howard Smith paper from Quebec proved satisfactory, and notes beginning at DC-25m (black seal, group 3) were printed on this new substrate. At the time of writing, PMG has graded a mere 13 examples of this Test Note, of which this is the single finest known. Minor tears are mentioned for accuracy. A fantastic and historic rarity.

Estimate: $5,000 - up.
