Description

Azores Banco de Portugal 5 Mil Reis Prata 30.1.1905 Pick 9 PMG Very Fine 25.
This particular issue represents the inaugural date and signature variety for this rare type. The Banco de Portugal held exclusive rights to issue currency in the Azores and Madeira regions. By 1932, the practice of overprinting notes for the Azores ceased, leading to the adoption of the Portuguese Escudo as the standard currency. Annotations are mentioned for accuracy but do not seem to detract from the overall visual presentation.
