Australia / Fanning Island Plantations Ltd. 1 Pound ND (1942) Pick UNL Schwan-Boling SB1541a1 PMG Very Fine 30.Fanning Island, presently Tabuaeran in the Republic of Kiribati, was an important cable station used during World War II. As troops were stationed there, a small group of currency notes were ordered and printed in Hawaii to be used on the island. After troops departed, most notes were redeemed or cut in half to be useful for small change transactions. It is also reported that after these notes were demonetized, they were used as cinema tickets! Nonetheless, fully intact examples are very rare, and this example is sure to please even the most discerning collector. One of World War II's rarest forms of paper currency. Notations on the back are mentioned for accuracy.
