Australia Commonwealth Bank of Australia 5 Pounds ND (1933-39) Pick 23a R44a PMG About Uncirculated 53 EPQ.
This higher denomination type is available in two varieties, of which the difference is quite subtle. This example, which is the first variety, features a pinkish cross-hatched engraving to King George V's face, and a slightly darker blue background in the two ovals on the front. The second variety lightened the portrait and backgrounds slightly. Nevertheless, both types are scarce and this example is tied for the highest grade in the PMG Population Report, and the other is also offered in this auction and has a consecutive serial number.
