Fr. 349 $1 1890 Treasury Note PMG About Uncirculated 50.The back of this note reflects the design philosophy of the day that the more intricate and detailed the layout, the better to discourage counterfeiting. These notes were payable in coin, with the Secretary of the Treasury given the discretion to decide whether gold or silver coin would be paid out. This is a lightly circulated example with just a few small edge tears.
