Excessively Rare $2 1928B Star Legal Tender
Fr. 1503* $2 1928B Legal Tender Note. Fine.This is one of the classic rarities in the field of small size notes, an item up there in rarity and desirability with the 1804 dollar or 1913 Liberty Head nickel. Only five surviving examples have been recorded, with this the second finest known. It also bears an illustrious pedigree, having previously been part of the collection of Amon Carter, Jr. The note is well centered with a sharp red overprint and displays no flaws whatever. We sold this piece four years ago, when it brought $22,000 after an epic floor battle, and we see no reason, in an even stronger market for rarities, why it will not reach or exceed that figure again today.
