Well Preserved PCGS Gem 65PPQ $100 1928 Gold Certificate
Fr. 2405 $100 1928 Gold Certificate. PCGS Gem New 65PPQ.We offered this note back in 2003, long before the advent of third party grading, commenting "An absolutely exceptional small size $100 Gold Certificate, which combines unusually vivid colors with far better than average face and back centering, and, even more surprisingly, has retained its full originality as well. This is a premium piece from an issue which is awfully hard to find this nice." PCGS clearly agreed with our original assessment, and placed this beauty in a Gem New 65PPQ holder. Now, it is available once again for one fortunate collector to enjoy. It is at least the equal of the PMG Gem 65 EPQ example that we offered in our recent FUN auction which realized $40,800.
