Description

Dallas $5,000

Fr. 2221-K $5000 1934 Federal Reserve Note. PCGS Extremely Fine 45.
Recent increases in the prices of $5000 and $10000 notes should have prompted many collectors to consider selling. Interestingly, about the same number of pieces make it to auction in a given year, illustrating how tightly collectors hold onto high denominations. Dallas $5000s are aesthetically pleasing in high grade, with bright paper, broad margins, and a boldly printed lime green overprint adding to the overall AU appearance of this example. If our January auction is any indication of the demand for these pieces, expect another fierce round of bidding and the possibility of another estimate left in the dust.
