Wide Margined Dallas $5,000 FRN

Fr. 2221-K $5,000 1934 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
Attrition rates for $5,000 FRNs were much higher than the $10,000s due in part to the preservation of so many very nice $10,000 notes in the Binion hoard. Some of the nicest $5,000s come from a little run of Dallas notes discovered nearly two decades ago. While all were nearly consecutive by serial number, the range in eye appeal and technical aspects pushes the example in this lot to among the most captivating. Traits of this piece are attractive inks on a canvas of white paper and the margins are exceptionally wide on all four sides. These wide margins on a plate letter C note reveal two paper guide line markers, one along the bottom edge to the left of center and a second smaller paper guide line marker in the lower right corner. Also, the back has a small paper guide line marker in the lower right corner. The margins are of Gem quality with both the balanced top and bottom margins measuring 2mm in width, while the left and right margins would be balanced if the design was shifted a mere one millimeter to the left. The result is a Dallas $5,000 that has the look of a higher grade as it lays.
