Description

"Good Embossing & Color" New York $5,000

Fr. 2221-B $5,000 1934 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
A bright and attractive New York $5,000 rightly earned "Good Embossing & Color" from PMG label. The embossing is clearly evident through the holder particularly on Madison's portrait and serial numbers, and the color is outstanding for the issue. There is a pinhole, which precludes what would otherwise be an obvious Exceptional Paper Quality designation. We have auctioned this note three times previously with the last time being in January 2015. The winning bids for $5,000 notes in our auctions have moved upwards since then with $288,000 being realized for a PMG 63 EPQ Fr. 2221-B example in our May 2024 CSNS auction.
