One of Three Boston Series 1928 $5,000s Documented
Fr. 2220-A $5,000 1928 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Choice About
Unc 58.A Boston ultra-high denomination note with serial number A00000107A that we have offered twice before with the last time being at our September 2004 Long Beach auction. It is a bright and vividly colored example that resides in a comment free PMG holder. We also observe serial number and Treasury Seal embossing to go along with natural paper wrinkles due to the drying process. PMG has graded two Fr. 2220-A notes and Track & Price lists three different serial numbers. T&P also reveals that this Friedberg number has not participated in an auction since 2013. Our best comparison for starting bid purposes will be with a Fr. 2220-G. There are now three known, and in January 2025, we auctioned a PMG 64 example that realized $456,000.
