Description

Scarce Philadelphia $1000 Replacement Note

Fr. 2210-C* $1000 1928 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Very Fine 25 Net.
The number of known examples of this Philadelphia replacement note can be counted on one hand. Wide margins and rich ink colors are accompanied by a modicum of light folds. There is a small repair which affects little, but is the cause of PMG's Net grade. This example is from the 180's serial number run from which most of the known examples are found, and is valued at $35,000 in the new edition of the Schwartz and Lindquist reference. According to Track & Price, this is the only $1000 1928 Philadelphia star from the original print run of a mere 720 pieces to have been offered at public sale during the past twenty years.
