Description

Fr. 2162-B* $100 1950-E Federal Reserve Note. Very Choice Crisp Uncirculated.
This is a genuine small size rarity no matter how you slice it. This issue is a scarce short printed issue with star notes from this highest denomination being very elusive in any grade but extremely rare as you approach the zenith of the grading scale. The margins on this New York star are very broad with just a hair more needed at the top for the full gem grade. The paper surfaces are divine as they have retained their original crispness and the ink colors are bold and bright. As a true indication of the scarce nature of this condition the highest grade example sold by CAA in the past three years was a mere CU example (the only CU example) which realized $2,645 two years ago. The market has advanced rapidly for small size rarities since that time and with an Oakes value listed at $4,000 in CU that should merely be considered the starting point for anyone in quest of a triumphant bid.
