From our 2008 Central States auction where it was described: "Tom was of the opinion that 1934D $5 stars were among the most difficult of the $5 Feds to obtain in high grade, and made an effort to acquire them whenever possible. These stars are not even priced in Gem condition in the new Schwartz and Lindquist volume because so few are known in true Gem grade. This and the notes that follow represent a happy exception and offer an opportunity to collectors that is unlikely to be soon repeated. This New York district Gem 66 EPQ example is a beautiful piece which could well be unimprovable."
