Description

Serial Number 5 Dallas $10 1929 FRBN Gem 66 EPQ

Fr. 1860-K $10 1929 Federal Reserve Bank Note. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
The sole finest Fr. 1860-K graded by PMG that was previously owned by Amon Carter Jr., who had one specialty of collecting serial number 5 notes. The next owner was Tom Flynn whose collection we auctioned in April 2008. Our consignor acquired it later when it crossed our auction block in April 2013. It is one of the great small size rarities, as Dallas FRBN $10s are rare in high grades. This example has rightfully earned its 66 EPQ grade with four broad margins, white paper, excellent color, natural paper wave, and embossing on the back that includes the bank title, serial numbers, Treasury Seal, and the district K indicators. We auctioned the serial number 3 Fr. 1860-K in PMG 65 EPQ for $6,000 in January 2024. However, the piece in this lot should bring considerably more being the sole finest for the Friedberg number not only in the PMG Population Report, but also in Track & Price.
