High Grade San Francisco $5 FRBN with Low Serial Number 100
Fr. 1850-L $5 1929 Federal Reserve Bank Note. PMG About
Uncirculated 55.A very high grade, very lightly circulated example of the key piece in the $5 series. Aside from a pair of Gems (one of which we sold for over $15,000 two years ago), this note is for the finest graded San Francisco $5 by any of the major services. It features vibrant color and only minimal traces of handling. Pedigreed to the Dean Oakes collection which was sold at auction in 2003 (where this note was called Choice CU), it also bears one of the few low serial numbers known for San Francisco $5s, in this case, number L00000100A. This is truly a great example from this very elusive district.
