Description

Extremely Rare Fr. 330 $50 - One of Seven Known

Fr. 330 $50 1891 Silver Certificate PCGS Banknote Very Fine 20.
This is the first type for $50 1891 Silver Certificates and a significant rarity. The face layout differs from the 1880, but Edward Everett remains as the right-side portrait alongside a small red treasury seal. The green back is open style like other denominations in the 1891 series. There are only seven recorded examples in Track & Price. One of those is held by the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank collection. This is one of the remaining six that are available to collectors and has been off the market since a 2007 auction. Unlike some its counterparts, this example is a problem free, moderately circulated piece with nice color for the grade. If you are the collector looking for a nice, unimpaired example of this rare Friedberg number, this is the note for you.
