Richmond, VA- Commonwealth of Virginia $10 Oct. 15, 1862 Cr. 8A Jones VT03-08A Remainder PMG Very Fine 25.This is an excessively rare variety of this very common type. It is missing the green X and TEN protectors. There is no evidence that the note was ever issued, so possibilities include a printing to test equipment and/or plates, or a printing error. We have never offered another example, nor are we aware of any additional notes. Hugh Shull simply lists the note as R-11 Extremely Rare (2-4 notes known) while Jones lists it similarly as having 2-4 notes known. PMG mentions the note has been previously mounted.
