Description

Richmond, VA- Alhambra (House) 50 July 16, (1843-49) Jones-Littlefield UNL PMG Choice Fine 15.
An early advertising note from the Alhambra House, a restaurant and hotel owned by Russell W. Allen that was in operation from 1843-1849. It was a high end restaurant serving various delicacies of the day including venison, oysters, fancy fowl, and the like. This note dates from that period. The note has both vignettes of a cowboy and a large deer that appear on the Republic of Texas $2 (Cr. A2) which was in circulation in Texas around the time that this note was being used. There is just a bit of very minor edge roughness on this note that has no repairs or meaningful impairments. This is a rare note that is not listed in either the Virginia catalog or Vlack's advertising note catalog.
