Description

Parkersburgh, VA- Western Bank of Virginia $10 Dec. 20, 1815 Fine.
The Western Bank was an unchartered bank that was in business around 1815. The state demanded that such banks suspend operations and retire their circulation by August 31, 1818 and this bank apparently complied. This is from the earlier Harrison series and is quite scarce. Unfortunately the ink used to fill in information on these notes created ink erosion issues, particularly in the Cashier's signature.
