Description

Texas Land Grant signed by Governor P.H. Bell November 1, 1851
There are a couple of separations along the folds of this document signed by Governor P.H. Bell. He was born in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. on May 12, 1812. He served in the Texas Army during the Texas War of Independence, and as a colonel in the United States Army during the Mexican War. He was governor of Texas from 1849-53, and then a Representative from Texas' 2nd District from 1853-57. Hill also served as a colonel in the Confederate Army. He died in 1898 and Bell County was named for him. A little ink spillage is seen on this great piece of Texana. Very Fine.
