Austin, TX- Republic of Texas Government Bonds.$100 Jan. 1, 1841 Cr. 40A Medlar UNL PMG Extremely Fine 40, CC;
$500 Oct. 1, 1840 Cr. 40B Medlar UNL PMG Very Fine 30, CC.
Both examples have all of their ten coupons and each has been cut cancelled as usual. The $100 is signed by David G(ouverneur) Burnet. He served as acting president of Texas during this time when President Lamar took a leave of absence in order to seek medical treatment in New Orleans for an intestinal disorder. It was previously mounted. The $500 is signed by President Mirabeau B(uonaparte) Lamar. These bonds are often collected in order to acquire David G. Burnet's or Mirabeau B. Lamar's signatures.
