Columbia, SC- State of South Carolina $50 Mar. 2, 1872 Cr. 8 PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.The $50 was the highest denomination printed for the March 2, 1872 issue which was intended to retire the state-guaranteed bonds of the Blue Ridge Railroad Company. Ultimately, the state repudiated the emission and it was never placed in circulation.
