Description
Providence, RI- Providence Furniture Co. $500 Advertising Note ND (ca. 1875-77) Vlack 4235 PMG Choice Very Fine 35.The Providence Furniture Company was located at 193-195 Broad Street from 1875 to 1877, later expanding to additional space on Broad Street. This note, printed in green and black features a portrait, presumably of the owner, flanked by vignettes of Blind Justice at left and a wagon load of merchandise at right. The note offers 10% lower terms on orders over $500 and also offers attractive prices on goods bought on "partial payments." The back is printed in green and offers details on the company, its product offerings, and why it is now selling retail (the Panic of 1873 had put a crimp on sales). There is a stain in the lower left corner on the back that does not overly distract. This is our first offering of this note.
