Dexter Look-Alike Scrip Note
Providence, RI- Merrill's Wood Engraving Rooms 50¢ Advertising
Note ND (ca. 1874) PMG Very Fine 30.Gardner B. Merrill is listed as a wood engraver in the 1874 Providence City Directory. This advertising note bears much more than just a passing resemblance to the Fourth Issue Dexter 50¢ fractional currency note which was in circulation circa 1869-75. PMG mentions tears as well as attached remnants (that are not readily apparent). Very rare and the only example of which we are aware.
