Pittsburgh, PA- Exchange Bank of Pittsburgh $1 May 1, 1861 Very Good-Fine.
The Exchange Bank of Pittsburgh was in business from 1836 until 1865 when it became the National Exchange Bank of Pittsburgh. This note's signatures were engraved, a rather rare feature for notes of the day. With printed serial numbers and date, these notes were ready for issue as soon as they arrived at the bank and were cut from sheets. Uncancelled but with missing lower left corner tip.
