Description

Philadelphia, PA- John S. Smith's Clothing Store "260" Advertising Note ND (ca. 1855) Vlack 3980 PMG Very Fine 30.
Newspaper classified ads from October to November, 1855 place John S. Smith at the address listed on the note, placing the use of this advertising note to sometime during the mid-1850s. The note's 260 "denomination" refers to the street address, 260 Market Street. The design features the Pennsylvania coat of arms flanked by vignettes of a Native American woman shielding her eyes at left and a farm woman carrying a sheaf of grain at right. PMG mentions an internal tear that is not readily obvious. This is our first offering of this note.
