Description

Oil City, PA- Oil City Bank $50 Sep. 15, 1864 G12a Hoober 290-6 PMG Choice Fine 15.
The $50 design features a female portrait at center flanked by a vignette of a mechanic standing holding a tool handle (some sources have identified this as a "sailor with a knife" which it is not) at lower left and another of an allegorical woman seated by an incense burner at lower right. ABNCo has added a green L-50-L protector and a green denominational back. The note has some stains, pinholes, and small edge tears which are noticeable, but should not overly distract given that we have not offered another issued example in over two decades.
