Description
Erie, PA- County of Erie $2 Jan. 15, 1864 Hoober 114-31 PMG Choice Fine 15.The $2 design features a vignette of what appears to be a sailor comforting a woman on the shore by a huge anchor while a child watches a rowboat approaching from what is perhaps a ship foundering in the distance. This interesting scene is flanked by a male portrait at left and another of a young girl, taken from life, at right. A large green and white TWO protector panel completes the design. PMG mentions some paperclip rust and pinholes that are not overly distracting.
