Allentown, PA- Nathan Shafer 3¢ Dec. 1, 1863 Hoober 9-48 Fine.The 1870 census lists Nathan Shafer as a saloon keeper, making him the potential issuer of this scrip note which depicts a large basket clams, crabs, lobsters, and other seafood. The note faces up well, with a number of minor internal paper splits and folds.
