Description

Wooster, OH- E. Chatelain "5" Advertising Note ND (ca. 1876) Vlack-UNL Wolka UNL PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
Eugene Chatelain was a Swiss-born watchmaker and jeweler who conducted business on the southwest side of the Public Square in Wooster, Ohio from roughly 1870 to 1876 (an 1877 business directory shows that he had moved to Rockford, IL). This note, with clear references to the nation's Centennial celebration, was likely in use during 1876 and offered a 5% discount on cash sales of $5 or more. PMG mentions some minor stains in the upper left margin.
