Description

Mount Vernon, OH- Owl Creek Bank of Mount Vernon $1; $3; $5 1816 G12; G14; G16 Wolka 1750-05; 06; 07 Very Good-Fine.
An unsubstantiated report has Owl Creek Bank notes used to purchase land in Texas resulting in a scandal. We could not find any evidence of this, but money was scarce and worthless notes from back East and up North could have been used in Texas. The three notes in this lot all have "judgement" statements from 1826 penned vertically on their faces, which leads us to believe that this trio from a failed bank was tied up in an Ohio court case. The $3 has a piece missing from the lower right corner. (Total: 3 notes)
