Description
Poughkeepsie, NY- Middle District Bank $5 18__ G44 Proof PMG Choice About Unc 58.The bank was incorporated in March 1811 and remained in business until May 28, 1829, when it suspended and was subsequently placed in receivership. This early note, printed by Leney & Rollinson, features a vignette of a shepherdess with her sheep at center. The left end panel contains a FIVE while the right end panel has a 5 in it. The note is printed on India paper with no forms of cancellation present. This rare early Proof traces its provenance back to the Leney & Rollinson Archives.
