New York, NY- Mechanics Bank $5 18__ G178 Proof PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
The bank was organized in 1810 and was succeeded by the Mechanics National Bank of the City of New York which was chartered on June 9, 1865. The note features a fanciful vignette of Archimedes lifting the world with a lever at left and another of an arm and hammer at bottom center. The left end panel contains the Comptroller's Office die. The note is printed on India paper. Very Scarce and seldom offered.
