Description
Hornellsville, NY- Bank of Hornellsville $1 Mar. 15, 1854 as G2 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.The bank was established by Samuel Hallett in 1854 and remained in business until 1857 when it began the process of winding up its affairs. The $1 design has a center vignette depicting Ceres seated with a train in the distance. This is flanked by a vignette of a crouching Native American man gazing at a distant ship at bottom left, and a state bank department die at lower right. The note is printed on India paper with four POCs in the signature spaces. There is a tiny nick in the top right corner that does not touch the frameline. There were fourteen examples of this note in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale.
