Harris Plate Note

Auburn, NY- Auburn City Bank 5¢ Nov. 1, 1862 Harris 15 Fine.
Augustus Howland, who is listed as a farmer in the 1860 census, went on to serve as the president of the Auburn City Bank which became the Auburn City National Bank (Charter number 1285) in 1865. Interestingly he also owned a company that made tools at the state prison. Based upon the small stain in the top margin, this note, which is an issue of the bank, was the plate note in Harris' book (page 14).
