Description
Freehold, NJ- Freehold Banking Co. $50 Feb. 1, 18__ as G14a Proof PMG Uncirculated 62.The $50 design features a large vignette of the New Jersey coat of arms (although with Liberty and Prosperity switching places). An oval portrait of James S. Lawrence, president of the bank from 1856 until his death in 1860, appears at lower left and a large red FIFTY protector completes the design. The note is printed on India paper with four small POCs in the signature lines. PMG notes a small piece of the lower right margin below the rightmost POC has been reattached. Around thirteen examples of this note appeared in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale.
