Description

Brandon, MS- Mississippi & Alabama RailRoad Company $500 Oct. 1, 1837 G34 Leggett 35
This note, from the Slabaugh collection, would be a nice but unremarkable high denomination issue from this otherwise common issuer but for the document which accompanies it. Dated 22nd June, 1838, it is a "Public Instrument of Protest," which records that this very note (identified by its serial number) was presented for payment "in Gold & Silver" at the Railroad's office and that such payment was refused. Two pieces, the note, which grades Fine-Very Fine, and the protest, which has been split but is fully legible. (Total: 2 items)
