Description
Brandon, MS- Mississippi & Alabama Rail Road Company $100 Jan. 1, 1838 G30b Kraus 10174 PMG Very Fine 20.Notes from out-of-state issuers such as this railroad were pressed into service by the firm of R. and D.G. Mills of Galveston who endorsed and reissued them locally in the early 1840s. The design incorporates a center vignette of an early train flanked by portraits of John Marshall and identical end panels with Justice standing. Although faint, there is a decorative orange back. PMG mentions rust, confined to a small area by the President's signature.
