Major Printing Error
(Unknown Location / Macon?), MS- State of Mississippi $20 186__
Cr. 48B Remainder PMG Very Fine 20.This note was part of the little known 1865 issue printed by J.T. Paterson & Co. for the State of Mississippi near the end of the war. It appears that only $20s, $50s, and $100s were actually printed, with the possibility that a $10 was also done although at present we are only aware of a uniface Back Proof. This $20 note is clearly a major printing error with the green back printing appearing on the face and the red 20 protector appearing on the back. This note, which served as the plate note in Hugh Shull's Southern States catalog (Page 190) has a small stain obscured by the word MISSISSIPPI in the title. Very rare and unique, as far as we know, at present.
