Description

Donaldsonville, LA- Town of Donaldsonville 10¢ Jan. 28, 1862
This is only the second note we have had from this historic location, which briefly served as the Louisiana state capital after it was moved from New Orleans in 1831. Donaldsonville was the site of a Civil War siege, and during the summer of 1862, was bombarded by the U.S. Navy and burned by U.S. Army troops after Confederate gunners refused Admiral Farragut's order to cease firing on his ships. PCGS Apparent Fine 15, with a few small stains on the back which affect nothing.
