Description

Louisville, KY- Bank of Kentucky $50 18__ G32P Proof PMG Uncirculated 62.
After opening in 1834, the Bank of Kentucky continued in business until early 1866 when all thirteen branches except the one in Frankfort (which became the Kentucky National Bank in 1871) were closed. The note's design includes framed portraits of Washington and Lafayette flanking a central vignette of an allegorical maiden (perhaps representing Agriculture) seated by a framed rendition of the Kentucky state seal. We previously auctioned PMG 64 graded Proof example of this note mounted to cardstock for $660 in January 2020. PMG notes previous mounting and minor stains on this piece. There are six punch out cancellations in the signatures lines.
