Terre Haute, IN- Watson & Shannon $2 January 1, 1856 PMG Very Fine 20.We have not previously offered an example of this rare note. John H. Watson was a private banker and exchange broker in Terre Haute since at least 1840. He took on Patrick Shannon as a partner in 1854 and maintained the partnership until his retirement in 1860. Watson passed away on June 23, 1861.
