Description

Savannah, GA- Timber Cutter's Bank $2; $5; $20 ca. 1850s Very Good or Better.
The Timber Cutter's Bank was organized around 1858 and apparently did not survive the end of the War by much at all as evidenced by its notes being quoted at anywhere between 0¢ and 12¢ on the dollar in the first five years following the war. It is quite likely that the bank never recovered after Savannah fell to Union forces on December 21, 1864. All three notes have pin/needle/spindle holes but are repair-free. The $2 has some minor rust stains in the right edge. (Total: 3 notes)
